Situé entre Bafoussam et Foumban, le Mont Mbapit est un ancien volcan qui culmine à près de 1988 mètres d’altitude. Il abrite un lac de cratère, dominé par des parois d’une hauteur d’environ 200 mètres. La récompense de l’ascension au lac sera incontestablement la vue imprenable sur une nature vierge qui s’étend à des kilomètres à la ronde. Selon la légende, une pierre jetée dans la bouche du cratère n’atteint jamais la nappe d’eau. Ce qui lui a valu l’appellation de « lac mystique » !

The Mount Mbapit is located between Bafoussam and Foumban. It is an ancient volcano rising to the height of almost 1988 metres. It is home to a crater lake, overlooked by walls some 200 metres in height. The reward for climbing up to the lake is undoubtedly the breath-taking view of unspoilt nature stretching for miles around. Legend has it that a stone thrown into the mouth of the crater never reaches the water table. This is why it is known as the « mystical lake » !
