Community museums or heritage huts in chiefdoms

The heritage huts created on the initiative of the Route des Chefferies are “living” museums within the chieftaincies, from which, on the occasion of certain ceremonies and rituals, objects with a clear symbolic charge are brought out, supporting the identity of the group or chieftaincy. Each heritage hut deals with and develops its own theme. They also play an educational role, transmitting and promoting customs, beliefs and ancestral values.

In the long term, this network of museums should act as a cultural observatory not only on a regional scale, but also on a national and international scale, so as to pool all the scientific research (multidisciplinary) that contributes to a better knowledge of Cameroonian civilizations and their cultural and natural heritage.
