Getting to West Cameroon
There are several ways to get to West Cameroon from Douala or Yaoundé:
By plane: the airline Camair-Co dBafoussam is served three times a week from Douala and Yaoundé.
By bus: several agencies offer daily return trips between the various towns in each region of Cameroon and the West. VIP trips are the most comfortable, and schedules are respected. The other small buses wait to be full before leaving, and are not very comfortable. Only Global Voyages and Général Voyages offer VIP travel.
Caution: Cameroon’s roads can be dangerous, so the utmost vigilance is recommended, and night driving is strictly inadvisable. It is therefore advisable to check arrival times at your destination to avoid being on the road after dark.
Getting around in West Cameroon
If you don’t have your own car, you can usually get around the region by taxi-bus, individual cab (car) or motorcycle. Bus and cab ranks are usually located on the outskirts of towns, in the direction of the desired destination. Cabs can be shared or taken individually for a larger sum.
Motorcycles are the most efficient way of getting around in villages and the bush. Prices vary according to distance (from 100 to 300 fcfa in general within the city, more expensive to get into the villages). This is not very well developed, but the tourist office has a fleet that can be rented at any time, with driver. To find out about car types and rates, contact us
